About OhmSpace

OhmSpace is a Rome-based Italian electric propulsion company developing the STAR (Spacecraft Thruster for Attitude and Reboost) family of water resistojet thrusters for small satellites. Founded in 2020, OhmSpace addresses a critical gap in the small satellite market: affordable, safe, and high-performance propulsion that enables nanosatellites and microsatellites to perform meaningful orbital maneuvers.

OhmSpace's water-based resistojet technology electrolyzes water to produce hydrogen and oxygen, which are then heated and expelled to generate thrust. This approach uses a completely safe, non-toxic propellant — unlike conventional hydrazine systems — while achieving higher specific impulse than cold gas alternatives. The compact, modular design integrates easily into CubeSat standard form factors.

The company operates with an R&D facility in Southampton, UK, in collaboration with the University of Southampton's space systems engineering program. OhmSpace has been recognized by ESA's Business Incubation Centre and Italian space industry support programs, and is developing its thrusters for commercial CubeSat and small satellite mission operators targeting LEO applications including Earth observation, IoT, and technology demonstration.
