About
The STAR-X is OhmSpace’s propulsion solution for large geostationary communication satellites that currently rely on hydrazine for reaction control systems (RCS). It operates on xenon as the primary propellant with krypton as an alternative, leveraging OhmSpace’s high-temperature resistojet technology to achieve up to 100 seconds of specific impulse in a thrust range of 1–2 N. This performance is sufficient to replace secondary hydrazine chemical propulsion systems on GEO platforms, simplifying spacecraft architecture and eliminating toxic propellant handling. The STAR-X offers a significant path to all-electric GEO satellites with reduced ground processing costs and improved launch safety.
