About Orbital Composites
Orbital Composites is a Campbell, California-based advanced manufacturing company that builds autonomous robotic systems for 3D printing high-performance composite parts. The company's technology combines multi-robot, multi-material 3D printing with automated fiber placement and its patented Additive Manufacturing Compression Molding (AMCM) process, which merges robotic extrusion-based 3D printing with compression molding to produce low-porosity, aerospace-grade composite parts without hard tooling or manual labor.
The company's machine platform spans several systems: the entry-level Orbital e- single-robot printer, the flagship multi-robot Orbital S printer, the 10-meter-scale mobile factory Orbital F, and Orbital AMCM, a high-volume system designed to produce mission-critical parts such as drone propellers at rates exceeding 200 units per day. Orbital Composites also offers SkyBAAM, an onsite, large-format continuous-fiber composite printing system capable of building unlimited-size structures on uneven terrain, developed in collaboration with Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
On the product side, Orbital Composites builds Starfighter X, a modular unmanned aircraft system manufactured through its automated robotic processes; the company was awarded an AFWERX Tactical Funding Increase (TACFI) contract to scale production of multi-mission Starfighter drone fleets for counter-UAS and cargo resupply missions. It also produces OrbShield, a single-panel composite solution that combines radiation shielding, thermal management and micrometeoroid/orbital debris (MMOD) protection for spacecraft, enabling commercial off-the-shelf electronics to operate in orbit without radiation-hardened components.
Orbital Composites serves aerospace, defense, space and energy customers, including a U.S. Space Force contract to advance extreme-environment materials manufacturing, and positions itself as building the factory infrastructure for scalable, tooling-free composite part production.
