VNIIEM Corporation (АО «Корпорация «ВНIIЭМ», All-Russian Research Institute of Electromechanics) is a Moscow-based aerospace manufacturer founded in 1941 by Andronik Iosifyan. Operating under Roscosmos, VNIIEM specialises in the design and production of automated satellites for Earth observation, environmental monitoring, and ionospheric research. The institute has played a central role in Russias civilian space programme since the Soviet era, developing a continuous lineage of Earth-sensing platforms.nnVNIIEM is best known internationally for the Kanopus-V series of remote sensing satellites, which provide 2.1-metre panchromatic and multispectral imagery of the Earths surface at 466 kg spacecraft mass from a 510 km sun-synchronous orbit. The Kanopus-V-IK variant adds mid-wave infrared capability optimised for wildfire and thermal anomaly detection. These platforms are used by Russian civil agencies for disaster response, agriculture monitoring, and cartography.

In the communications domain, VNIIEM manufactures the Gonets-M LEO data-relay and store-and-forward messaging satellites, which form part of the Russian Gonets-D1M constellation. The constellation provides messaging and data services to remote regions of Russia not covered by geostationary satellites, with satellites operating in near-polar orbit at approximately 1,500 km altitude.

In 2025, VNIIEM completed flight testing of the Ionozond space system, comprising Ionosfera-M spacecraft for ionosphere monitoring. The company maintains comprehensive in-house capabilities in electromechanical system design, spacecraft-to-ground antenna and receiver-demodulator systems, and contributes to International Space Station operations management infrastructure.
