About
Kanopus-V is VNIIEMs flagship medium-format Earth observation satellite platform. With a launch mass of approximately 466 kg, it operates in a 510 km sun-synchronous orbit carrying a panchromatic camera providing 2.1 m ground resolution and a multispectral imager providing 3.4 m resolution in four spectral bands. Design life is five years with on-orbit propulsion for orbit maintenance. Kanopus-V imagery supports disaster response, agricultural monitoring, forestry, cartography, and ice-cover surveillance. As of 2026, six Kanopus-V class satellites have been successfully launched and operated by Roscosmos.
