About
The 8U Solar Panel is a stationary solar panel designed for 8U CubeSats, integrating triple-junction photovoltaic solar cells. It offers high power output and radiation resistance, with an efficiency of over 30% at Beginning of Life (BOL) and 29+% at End of Life (EOL). The panel is designed for a 5-year mission lifetime and includes 20 solar cells, providing a maximum power of 24 W in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). It features internal bypass diode for reverse bias protection and has a Solar Cell Assembly (SCA) thickness of 280-300 μm. Integrated sensors include up to 4 photodiodes, with configurability for additional sensors upon request. The panel has a mass of 545 g, a maximum voltage of 49.8V (20S1P), and a maximum current of 2.5 A (4S5P). Optional features include an external magnetorquer connector, a low-power MCU, up to 2 photodiodes, and up to 3 temperature sensors. It also includes an accessible RBF inhibition mechanism and supports parallel connections for custom power needs. The 8U Solar Panel seamlessly integrates with all EnduroSat systems and undergoes stringent space qualification testing.
