About
Artemis CubeSat Kit is an educational platform providing complete open-source hardware designs, curriculum materials, and support for students to build and fly functional 1U CubeSats. The kit was developed to lower the barriers to entry for high school and undergraduate satellite education programs, providing a standardized, flight-tested design that students can build, program, and — with appropriate support — fly as a real satellite mission.
The Artemis kit provides a fully integrated 1U CubeSat system including the structure (aluminum frame), electrical power system (EPS) with solar panels, on-board computer (OBC) based on commercial Arduino/ARM microcontrollers, UHF radio transceiver, and sensor suite. The open-source design documentation (PCB schematics, firmware, mission planning software) allows students to understand every aspect of satellite design and modify the system for their specific educational objectives.
The platform targets the growing market for educational CubeSat programs — hundreds of universities now fly student-built CubeSats as senior capstone projects, and high school space programs are growing rapidly with support from NASA (CubeSat Launch Initiative), ESA Education, and national space agencies. Artemis provides a shortcut past the custom hardware design phase, letting programs focus on science payload design and mission operations.
