ASNARO-1 (Advanced Satellite with New System Architecture for Observation) is a 500 kg-class Earth observation small satellite developed by NEC and Mitsubishi Electric in partnership with JAXA. It carries a high-resolution optical sensor capable of 0.5 m ground sample distance, enabling detailed Earth imagery from a sun-synchronous low Earth orbit. The satellite demonstrates Japan’s capability to produce high-performance observation systems in a compact platform, targeting both domestic and international remote sensing markets.
