About
Busek’s BHT-6000 (2-6 kW) Hall effect thruster is provided for NASA’s Power and Propulsion Element (PPE), a 60-kilowatt solar electric propulsion spacecraft built by Maxar Technologies for the Lunar Gateway — the first US electric propulsion system on a human-rated mission. Featuring a highly efficient center-mounted cathode and a unique magnetic field design, the BHT-6000 exceeds 64% total efficiency at nominal conditions, making it suitable for high-power all-electric orbit raising, station-keeping, de-orbit, GEO communications, and solar electric space tug applications.
