About

The BHT-20K is Busek’s most powerful Hall thruster, representing a significant advancement in Hall Thruster technology with over 100 times the power of their first model. It features an innovative 2.8 cm center-mounted cathode and a highly mass-efficient magnetic circuit design, offering outstanding specific impulse and thrust in a lightweight and compact package. The thruster has been tested at the Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC) and the NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC), demonstrating throttling capabilities over an input power range from 5kW to 22 kW. It is designed to provide high-power space propulsion for missions to destinations including the Moon, Mars, Venus, or beyond. The BHT-20K can operate with Xenon, Krypton, and Iodine propellants.
