MLI Blankets

DHV Technology manufactures custom Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI) blankets for CubeSat and smallsat thermal management. MLI blankets act as passive thermal shields, reducing radiative heat exchange between the satellite and space environment.

DHV’s MLI blankets are manufactured to precise specifications using aluminized Mylar (or Kapton) layers separated by Dacron mesh spacers. Each blanket is custom-cut and seamed to fit the customer’s spacecraft geometry, with grounding tabs and attachment provisions as needed.

Typical applications include covering battery packs, sensitive electronics, and structural panels to maintain temperatures within the operational range throughout the orbit, especially for LEO missions with multiple eclipse cycles per day.
