DMON

DMON2 is a software tool that improves developer productivity by speeding up the debug of embedded software applications on system-on-chips (SOCs) with one or more SPARC V8 LEON or ARM processor cores.

About

DMON2 is a software tool designed to enhance developer productivity by accelerating the debugging process for embedded software applications on System-on-Chips (SOCs). It supports SOCs featuring SPARC V8 LEON or ARM processor cores. The tool offers a graphical user interface (GUI) with unique visualization capabilities for SOC activity, allowing drill-down to register and bit level for each detected IP core. It supports Eclipse TCF multicore source level debugging (and GDB) and is compatible with SPARC V8 LEON2/3/4 and ARM targets. DMON2 facilitates debugging via UART, Ethernet, JTAG, and Spacewire links, providing breakpoint, watchpoint, and disassembly support. Users can define custom IP and commands. It has been tested with development kits from various vendors and runs on Windows, Linux, and Cygwin. The software also includes remote access client/server support, TCL & Python scripting, and a statistics module for graphing and storing target data. Developed in cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA), DMON2 addresses the significant time spent on test and debug operations, which can account for 25% of a developer’s time. It provides unique support for efficient development and debugging of multi-block system-on-chip solutions, helping to mitigate project delays.
