About
EOI Space (Earth Observant Inc.) is a US satellite company developing hyperspectral imaging satellites for Earth observation — satellites that capture imagery in hundreds of contiguous narrow spectral bands rather than the 4–8 broad bands of conventional multispectral satellites. Hyperspectral data enables detection and quantification of specific materials (crop types, mineral compositions, chemical concentrations, vegetation health indicators) that cannot be distinguished with standard multispectral sensors.
EOI Space’s satellites operate in the VNIR (visible and near-infrared, 400–1,000 nm) and SWIR (short-wave infrared, 1,000–2,500 nm) spectral regions with ~5 nm spectral resolution across 200+ bands. This spectral resolution enables applications like: identifying specific crop diseases by their unique spectral signature, detecting methane and greenhouse gas plumes, classifying soil types for precision agriculture, and identifying mineral deposits from their reflectance spectra — capabilities not possible with conventional EO satellites.
EOI Space serves customers in agriculture, mining, environmental monitoring, and defense sectors where hyperspectral analysis provides intelligence not available from any other source. The company competes with Satellogic, Planet Hyperspectral (launched 2023–2024), and hyperspectral payloads on government platforms like NASA DESIS (ISS).
