ICEYE operates the world’s largest commercial synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite constellation, with over 30 satellites in orbit providing all-weather, day-and-night sub-1-meter resolution radar imagery. ICEYE pioneered SAR microsatellites in the sub-100 kg class, dramatically reducing the cost of SAR imaging versus traditional large SAR satellites that weigh over 1,000 kg.
ICEYE’s SAR imagery penetrates clouds and works in darkness — critical advantages over optical satellites for persistent monitoring of floods, wildfires, ship movements, infrastructure damage, and ground subsidence. The constellation provides the highest SAR revisit rate of any commercial provider, enabling multiple passes per day over priority areas.
ICEYE’s primary markets are insurance (catastrophe assessment and claims validation), maritime intelligence (ship tracking, dark vessel detection), defense and intelligence (target monitoring, change detection), and government disaster response. The company has sold SAR satellite capacity and imagery to the US Department of Defense, Japanese government, Finnish Defence Forces, and commercial insurers. ICEYE is headquartered in Espoo, Finland.
