About

The Jena-Optronik OSI (Optical Sky Stimulator) is a smart, universal, and powerful star sensor test system for real end-to-end closed-loop dynamic testing. Projects actual sky scenery including stars (2.0-6.5 mi), planets (Moon, Earth, Sun, Jupiter, Mars, Saturn), proton SEU events (>5000/image), and extended objects in real-time on a high-resolution micro-display through collimating optics onto the star sensor aperture. The lightweight optical head mounts directly to the sensor under test and supports sensors already integrated on a satellite structure. Can test third-party star sensors with adaptation. Built-in HIPPARCOS-based star catalogue with custom catalogue loading. Motion simulation up to 3 deg/s. Available in ambient (OSI-Standard) and thermal vacuum chamber (OSI-TV) variants. An OSI version is available for ASTRO CL with extended test and alignment functions.
