About

SRV-1 (test code: RLV-T6) is described by LinkSpace as China’s first suborbital reusable vehicle. It is a multi-purpose vehicle using LOX/methane propellant. When flown without a separating payload, its launch costs are claimed to be reduced by 90% compared with a non-reusable solid-propellant rocket of similar class.

SRV-1 is intended for multiple applications including microgravity research, atmospheric research, aerospace sensor testing, near-spacecraft testing, and biological payload flights. The vehicle features deployable landing legs and a lighter structure built from a high-temperature-resistant composite material, over which LinkSpace states it holds independent intellectual property rights.

The vehicle is powered by a variable-thrust rocket engine burning LOX/methane, operating on an open (gas-generator) cycle, delivering 100 kN of sea-level thrust with a sea-level specific impulse of 285 s and a throttle range of 20%-100%. The engine is supplied by JZYJ Space Tech Co., Ltd.
