The UAE Astronaut Programme, initiated in April 2017 by MBRSC, is the first astronaut programme in the Arab world. It selects and trains Emirati cadres for international space missions. Four astronauts have been selected: Hazzaa AlMansoori (first Arab to reach ISS, 2019), Sultan AlNeyadi (first Arab to complete a 6-month ISS mission and spacewalk, 2023), Nora AlMatrooshi (first Arab female astronaut), and Mohammad AlMulla. All train at NASA Johnson Space Center.
