The reaction wheel is one of the actuators in a satellite’s attitude control system. When the satellite experiences external disturbance torques, the wheel accelerates or decelerates under command to generate a reaction control torque, absorbing angular momentum changes caused by the disturbances and thereby maintaining stable satellite attitude.
