GomSpace’s Tracking Solar Panel System (TSP-45W) is designed to significantly improve the power efficiency of satellite platforms. This system features a deployable solar array with sun tracking capabilities along one axis, facilitated by the NanoPower SADA-50 mechanism. It is compatible with platforms as small as 6U. During launch, Hold Down Release Mechanisms secure the solar arrays. Upon command, the panels release, allowing a low-mass carbon fiber support structure to unfold, spanning 980 mm per wing from the spacecraft’s center when attached to a GomSpace 6U structure. Each panel is equipped with 15 triple junction solar cells, enabling each wing to generate up to 45 W, with two wings collectively producing up to 90 W. After deployment, the Solar Array Drive Assembly controls the angle for optimal sun-tracking and maximum power generation. The system also offers easier connectivity for power and communication through a connection-PCB, allowing for customer-specific internal harness development. The innovative design utilizes a carbon fiber support structure for a slim, sturdy, and robust construction. The HDRM system is directly integrable on 6U and 12U GomSpace structures. Outward-pointing cells maximize power production even when stowed. Additional mounting options are available for Fine Sun Sensor, Fine Sun Sensor + Flight Preparation Panel, and GPS antenna.
