Navigation (NSAS)
Nigerian Satellite Augmentation System (NSAS) enhancing GNSS accuracy, integrity and availability across Africa.
About
NIGCOMSAT’s Navigation service centers on the Nigerian Satellite Augmentation System (NSAS), a Satellite-Based Augmentation System (SBAS) that functions as a navigation overlay service providing continuity, availability, integrity and accuracy improvements to GNSS signals. Differential corrections are broadcast via NigComSat-1R at L1 and L5 frequencies, with integrity messaging capabilities for safety-of-life applications.
NSAS is targeted at transportation (aviation, maritime, rail, road and inland waterways), oil and gas operations, civil engineering, surveying and GIS, public safety and disaster management, agriculture, tourism, environmental protection and scientific research. The signal-in-space, broadcast using PRN Code 147, is currently undergoing testbed experimentation and validation trials.
