About
NewSpace Systems’ LYNX transmitter family offers compliant X-band and Ka-band transmitters designed to meet the growing demand for high-speed data transmission in space applications. The LYNX-X-band transmitter is a high data-rate transmitter operating in the Earth Exploration-Satellite Service (EESS) X-band, while the LYNX-Ka-band transmitter operates in the EESS Ka-band. Both feature a fully CCSDS 131.3 compliant data link, using an advanced modulation and forward error correction (FEC) scheme to achieve excellent bandwidth and power efficiency while maintaining quasi-error-free (QEF) communication. Variable coding and modulation (VCM) and adaptive coding and modulation (ACM) are supported to optimize bandwidth utilisation and adapt to channel conditions. The X-band unit covers 8.025 to 8.4 GHz and the Ka-band unit covers 25.5 to 27 GHz, with output power adjustable up to 2 W and maximum data rates up to 400 Mbps. Applications include payload data downlink and intersatellite data links for both X-band and Ka-band Earth Exploration-Satellite Service missions. The transmitters were designed with a radiation level greater than 30 krad TID at component level, making them suitable for LEO missions of up to 3 years. The X-band transmitter is operational over a temperature range of -35 to +80°C and can survive temperatures of -40 to +85°C. The design was tested in accordance with MIL-STD-461F electromagnetic compatibility requirements for full compliance.
