About

ONDO Space’s IoT Livestock Tracking Service addresses one of Mongolia’s most pressing practical challenges: monitoring millions of livestock animals that roam across vast steppe terrain far beyond the reach of terrestrial cellular networks. Herders in Mongolia manage large flocks and herds spread over territories that can span hundreds of kilometers, making traditional ground-based tracking solutions economically and technically impractical.

Using satellite IoT connectivity via the ONDOSAT-OWL constellation, ONDO Space provides location tracking, movement monitoring, and anomaly detection for livestock. Animal-worn IoT tags transmit position and sensor data to passing satellites, which relay it to ground stations for delivery to herder applications. This enables real-time herd monitoring, theft detection, grazing pattern analysis, and emergency response for remote herding communities.

Mongolia hosts approximately 70 million head of livestock according to national statistics, and herding accounts for a significant portion of the country’s rural economy. The service targets individual herders, herding cooperatives, and agricultural ministries seeking modern herd management tools.
