SPACECRETE In-Space Printing Process
Proprietary photopolymer resin and UV-curing extrusion process for manufacturing rigid structures in the vacuum of space.
About
SPACECRETE is Orbital Matter’s proprietary liquid photopolymer resin material and associated manufacturing process, engineered to flow like a fluid during storage and transport, then harden in seconds into a rigid, joint-free space-grade structure once extruded and UV-cured in vacuum. The ‘liquid in, rigid structure out’ approach is the core enabling technology behind the PADS boom-printing system, and Orbital Matter’s roadmap describes a material-agnostic extrusion architecture that will also support thermoplastic feedstock formulations, extending the process toward kilometer-scale solar and thermal arrays and, longer term, a universal on-orbit 3D printer for arbitrary space station and lunar infrastructure geometries.
