The Rovial Breakthrough™ is Rovial Space’s inaugural ultra-high-power solar space platform, designed to enable a new class of energy-intensive orbital applications that no existing commercial satellite platform can sustain. It delivers between 100 kW and 500 kW of electrical power per platform, with a 15-year design life, and is engineered to deploy at full platform potential in a single launch — eliminating the need for separate on-orbit assembly missions.
The platform addresses a fundamental gap in today’s satellite market: no existing commercial bus can supply the sustained power levels required for space-based data centres, high-powered communications beams, directed-energy laser payloads, or lunar surface power delivery. Rovial Breakthrough bridges that gap by combining large-area deployable solar arrays with Rovial’s proprietary AI-enabled robotic systems, which handle structural assembly and ongoing maintenance to sustain the 15-year operational lifetime.
Target applications include high-power communications satellites, in-space data processing and AI workloads, space lasers, lunar power supply for future surface operations, and wireless power transmission (power beaming) to Earth or to other orbital assets. The platform targets both the commercial satellite operator market and the defence sector, with Rovial citing a combined market opportunity of €230 billion.
