The Satellite Laser Ranging and Velocity Measurement System of Spacecraft is engineered to measure the mutual arrangement parameters of spacecraft, facilitating automatic docking procedures. It determines distance by analyzing the delay of a reflected laser beam and measures velocity using the Doppler frequency shift of an optical carrier. The system is also capable of receiving a 3D image of an object or a part of it.
