About
SAU&RON is UARX Space’s family of separation ring systems designed for robust, low-shock deployment of small satellites, engineered for reliability and ease of integration from Low Earth Orbit to interplanetary missions. The family now includes qualified interfaces at 8″, 15″, and 24″, broadening the range of payload sizes it can accommodate. Each system is built around a redundant proprietary actuator and undergoes exhaustive testing and qualification to spaceflight standards, ensuring low-shock, precise separation even in extreme environments. The rocket-side and payload-side ring interfaces use 12 x 1/4 inch bolts (or 12 x M6), following the 8-inch ESPA bolt pattern. A lightweight version is available for spacecraft with mass below 100 kilograms. The system offers customizable unitary spring energy (0.1 to 3.0 Joules) and separation velocity (0.1 to 0.9 m/s, mass dependent), with shock output below 100 g’s at 1 kHz as measured by test. Actuation response time is under 100 ms, with a release time of 100 ms maximum, actuator voltage of 28V ±4V (typical), and a release signal pulse under 1000 ms at less than 3 amps (typical). A 15-pin, negative insertion force Data/Power/Grounding connector supports up to 3 A per pin, with up to 4 connectors addable around the ring, typically used separately for grounding, power, and data. The Ride-ON component provides a flyaway mass under 0.35 kg. Payload capacity is 80 kg, limited by center-of-gravity height, with a stack height of 36.0 mm.
