About

SPACE WALKER is developing an ultra high-pressure gas composite Type IV tank, built with a plastic liner and resin-impregnated carbon fiber winding. Derived from the company’s rocket tank development expertise, this tank line is aimed at terrestrial clean-energy applications including cylinder bundles for hydrogen trailers and other transfer equipment, composite tanks for hydrogen refueling stations, and tanks for fuel cell drones and other applications. Development roadmap: stationary-application development targeting KHK (High Pressure Gas Safety Institute of Japan) certification and mass production start in 2025, transportation-application development targeting certification and mass production start in 2026, and full transportation/storage certification for land, sea, air and space applications by 2027. The technology supports Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Basic Hydrogen Strategy targets, including planned buildout of hydrogen stations, fuel-cell vehicles, and energy farms toward carbon neutrality by 2050.
