About
Yamal-601 is a large, high-capacity geostationary telecommunications satellite operated by Gazprom Space Systems, positioned at 49 degrees East longitude. Launched in May 2019, the satellite was built by Thales Alenia Space on the Spacebus Neo platform. It provides C-band, Ku-band and Ka-band capacity with approximately 70 transponders, covering Russia, Europe, the Middle East, Central and South-East Asia. Yamal-601 is the most capable spacecraft in the Yamal fleet, supporting backbone communication, broadcasting, broadband internet, and government services. The Ka-band capacity enables high-throughput broadband services for enterprise and consumer markets.
