About KT SAT

KT SAT was formally established in December 2012 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of KT Corp, South Korea's leading telecommunications provider, though its satellite operations trace back to 1970 when the Kumsan International Satellite Communication earth station was first established. With over 50 years of satellite operational heritage and 130 years of KT Group telecommunications history, KT SAT is the anchor of South Korea's commercial space communications industry.

The company operates five geostationary satellites — KOREASAT 5, 5A, 6A, 7, and 8 — positioned at orbital slots of 116°E, 113°E, and 75°E. These satellites collectively cover over 60% of the world's population and serve a wide range of applications including DTH broadcasting, broadband internet, maritime connectivity, and government communications across Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and parts of Africa and Europe.

KT SAT's ground infrastructure includes the Kumsan Satellite Service Center (home to over 40 antennas and one of Asia's largest teleport facilities), the Yongin Satellite Control Center, and the Busan Maritime Business Center. The company connects to over 230 countries and territories through 8 submarine cable systems spanning more than 150,000 km and 100+ global Points of Presence.

In recent years KT SAT has expanded beyond traditional GEO satellite services into LEO connectivity (Starlink partnership), space-based Earth observation data distribution (BlackSky, Vantor/Maxar, ICEYE), and Space & Navigation services, positioning itself as a comprehensive space-enabled connectivity and data solutions provider for the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
