About Satellite Vu

Satellite Vu (branded SatVu) is a London-based space technology company founded in 2016 by Anthony Baker (CEO) and Tobias Reinicke (CIO/CTO) to bring high-frequency, commercially available high-resolution thermal infrared imagery to market from space. Baker brings over 20 years in the satellite industry, including as founding CEO of Es'hailSat (Qatar Satellite Company), Vice President at SES Luxembourg, and roles at AsiaSat and NATO. Reinicke is a remote-sensing specialist focused on cloud-based processing pipelines for satellite imagery.

Following a £1m grant from the UK Space Agency in 2021 to build a compact high-resolution infrared camera, SatVu proved its concept in 2022 through aerial thermal-camera flights over Europe and North America. The company's first satellite, HotSat-1, launched in June 2023 aboard a SpaceX Transporter rideshare mission, becoming the world's highest-resolution commercial thermal-imaging satellite in orbit.

SatVu is building out a constellation of thermal-imaging satellites — HotSat-2 and HotSat-3 are contracted for launch in 2025 — targeting global coverage with 10-20 revisits per day. The satellites capture thermal imagery and up to 60-second thermal video at up to 3.5m resolution, day and night, enabling use cases from urban heat monitoring and industrial activity detection to national security applications that visible-light imagery cannot address.

SatVu's leadership includes Camilla Taylor (CFO, previously at what3words) and Scott Herman (CTO, formerly CTO of BlackSky and CEO of Cognitive Space). The company has raised over £30.5m across seed, Series A, and Series A2 rounds, with investors including Lockheed Martin and Seraphim Space.
