TESAT-Spacecom (TESAT) designs, develops, assembles, integrates, and tests products, systems, and solutions for satellite communications. The company manufactures key components for satellite communications technology, including equipment for optical broadband communication in space, such as Optical Communication Terminals (OCTs) like SCOT135, SCOT20, and SCOT80. TESAT also provides complete communication technology for applications such as emitting television signals via satellite antennas. Their customers include commercial operators, civil applications (e.g., earth observation for scientific purposes), and military communications. TESAT is headquartered and manufactures in Backnang, Germany, on a 63,000m² premises, which includes 17,000 m² of clean room area. The company employs approximately 1,100 staff. To date, nearly 1,000 space projects have been completed, and more than half of all communication satellites in orbit have TESAT equipment on board. They have successfully performed over 85,000 laser transmissions. TESAT holds certifications including EN 9100, DIN EN ISO 9001, DIN EN ISO 17025:2018 for its calibration laboratory, DIN EN ISO / IEC 27001:2022 for information security, and DIN EN ISO 50001:2018 for its energy management system. Materials, components, and production processes are based on ECSS-Standards, and they have ESA qualified lines for PWB production, PCB assembly, and microwave manufacturing. Notable programs include the delivery of SCOT135, SCOT20, and SCOT80 OCTs for various missions, including Planetek Hellas' OptiSat under Greece’s National Satellite Space Program and a GPS demonstration for Lockheed Martin. TESAT Government, an affiliate, partners with Frontgrade Technologies to produce OCT elements for the U.S. security-restricted market.
