ADS
Unibap's Application Development hardware kit that lets developers build and verify onboard software on the same hardware architecture used in their space Engineering and Flight Models before it flies.
Description
ADS is a hardware development solution from Unibap that allows software developers to begin building applications for space missions without waiting for flight hardware to mature. It is delivered off-the-shelf directly after ordering, giving customers a head start on software development that is not hindered by hardware maturity timelines. The product follows a develop-verify-fly workflow: developers write and develop their software on the ADS unit, verify it on the Engineering Model (EM), and finally deploy it to fly on the Flight Model (FM), since ADS shares the same hardware architecture as the EMs and FMs. This approach is aimed at building a community of software developers around Unibap's space computing platform, enabling engineers to create reliable software for space applications even without prior space industry experience. Unibap states that more than 40 third-party applications have been brought to space using this development pathway, and the platform serves to connect software developers with satellite operators. ADS is positioned as combining the openness and accessibility of a general-purpose development platform with the practical constraints and limitations inherent to space-qualified hardware, giving developers a realistic environment for building space-ready software.
