The 3D PLUS 3DPM0168 Latch-Up Current Limiter (LCL) is a radiation-hardened overcurrent protection device that monitors semiconductor power supply lines and instantly switches them off in the event of overcurrent or radiation-induced single event latchup (SEL), preventing device destruction and board overheating.
The LCL covers supply voltages from 0.8V to 5.5V with a maximum current of 2A and a switch-off time of 10 μs maximum. Separate adjustable threshold currents for Run and Standby modes allow fine-tuned protection matching actual device operating conditions. Operating modes include automatic reconnection after latchup clearance or manual ON/OFF command via digital control.
A protection status signal is provided for system-level supervision and fault logging. The device is inherently immune to single event transients (SET) and is packaged in a compact SOP20 format. TID tolerance exceeds 50 krad(Si), SEL LETth exceeds 80 MeV.cm²/mg at +125°C, and operating temperature spans -40°C to +115°C.
The LCL is ideally suited for protecting individual ICs on space boards, particularly in mixed-technology environments where CMOS devices with different latchup susceptibilities share the same power rail. It complements the 3D PLUS Protection Switch and POL Converter in a complete space power management ecosystem.
