About
The Autonomous Measurements System is designed to verify the work of a spacecraft’s attitude determination and control system (ADCS). It determines the attitude and angular velocity of a microsatellite mockup independently from the ADCS itself by analyzing video data of the orientation of special markers placed on the test object. The system includes at least 2 cameras and at least 16 different markers evenly distributed over the surface of the test object; the markers’ positions relative to the coordinate system of the mockup must be known in advance. By tracking marker positions via video analysis, the system provides an independent reference measurement of orientation (accuracy 0.1°) and angular velocity (accuracy 0.05 °/s) that can be compared against the ADCS’s own determined values, enabling verification and validation of ADCS performance during ground testing. The product was released in 2013, has an estimated production/delivery time of 5 months, is not flight-qualified, and cannot be adapted to customer requirements.
