About
Pulsating Heat Pipes (also referred to as Oscillating Heat Pipes) feature less reliance on gravity for operation and can operate in unique, highly customized form factors (thin, 3D). Heat vaporizes fluid at the source, causing expansion of vapor plugs; simultaneously, liquid slugs expand in the colder condensation zone, together causing rapid oscillation of the internal fluid that transports heat continuously. Applications include power electronics (inverters, on-board chargers, converters) and embedded electronics (sensors, radar/lidar, LEDs). A PHP Spreader research prototype dissipates 800W as a heat spreader.
