CLASP, the Composite Lightweight Array with Shape-memory Polymer, is CTD’s packaging and deployment architecture for spacecraft solar power generation. CTD presents it as the most efficient packaging and deployment performance architecture for spacecraft solar power generation, enabling missions previously out of reach by reducing complexity and cost.

Specific power exceeds 250 W/kg and packaging efficiency reaches 110 kW/m3. The design is simple with a low parts count and high performance, is CubeSat dispenser compatible, maximizes payload volume, and accommodates all PV cells so the array can be fitted for purpose and mission budget.

CTD positions CLASP in the high-power, high-packaging-efficiency quadrant of its own trade space chart, against first-generation arrays with low power and low packaging efficiency. CLASP was flight qualified in the 2015-2020 period.
