Dcubed
Origami Solar Array

Foldable, deployable solar array using origami-inspired mechanical structures for CubeSats and smallsats; maximizes power within tight stowed volume constraints.

About

The Dcubed Origami Solar Array is a deployable solar panel system inspired by the Miura-ori origami folding pattern. The array folds into a compact rectangular stack when stowed, then deploys to its full wingspan without any deployment mechanism beyond a simple HDRM release.

The Origami Solar Array is available in multiple standard sizes generating from 15W to 100W+ depending on configuration. It is compatible with 6U, 12U, ESPA, and custom form factors. The array ships pre-integrated with Dcubed Release Nuts for the deployment restraint.

Key advantages over rigid-deployable or rollable arrays:
– No complex hinge chains — the origami fold pattern is the mechanism
– Proven deployment kinematics through 500+ ground deployment cycles
– Compatible with high-efficiency (≥30% BOL) solar cell options
– Self-damping deployment — no risk of rebound collision

Flight heritage includes missions with Fossa Systems, Hawkeye 360 second-generation constellation, and commercial Earth observation smallsats.
