About
ARIETIS is an ITAR-free, space-qualified, and radiation-hardened 3-axis gyroscope. Its primary application is as a main Inertial Reference Unit (IRU) or as a coarse rate sensor for Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), Geostationary Orbit (GEO), telecommunication, earth observation, and scientific missions. The unit utilizes class 1 EEE components and is developed and qualified according to European Space Agency standards (ECSS). ARIETIS has been selected for several notable missions, including PLATO, LSTM, and ARIEL.
This innovative 3-Axis Rad-Hard Gyro unit is unique in its use of European Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology. With its High-Reliability class 1 components, ARIETIS offers high performance and reliability as a non-redundant 3-axis Gyros Unit. It provides precise inertial angle increment measurements and rotation rates around three orthogonal axes. Designed for a long operational life of 15+ years, ARIETIS is also developed and qualified to ESA (ECSS) standards.
In December 2016, InnaLabs® secured its first contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) to develop ARIETIS as a 3-axis Rad-Hard Rate Measurement Unit for science and space exploration. Beyond scientific missions, it also finds applications in the global commercial space market, including GEO, Telecom, and Navigation platforms. Specifically, ARIETIS is slated for use in ESA’s third medium-class mission, PLATO (PLAnetary Transits and Oscillations of stars), which aims to discover and investigate extrasolar planetary systems, focusing on terrestrial planets in habitable zones, and to study stellar seismic activity. First contracts for ARIETIS were signed in 2021, with flight models shipped in 2023. Additional product specifications, outline drawings, block diagrams, and test data are available upon request.
