About

The ASTRIX series is Airbus’ family of fibre-optic gyroscope (FOG) based inertial reference units, used for precise attitude and rate sensing across a wide range of missions. The ASTRIX 200 offers extremely low bias instability (below 0.0005°/h) suited to 15-year GEO science and telecom missions, while ASTRIX 120 provides fast startup (under 3 seconds) with sub-0.01°/h bias stability for LEO, MEO and GEO platforms. The ASTRIX 1000 series is the long-heritage three-axis inertial detection system used across Airbus’ navigation product line, employing HiRel components and standard 1553B/RS422 digital interfaces.

All ASTRIX variants share the same core FOG technology and have amassed a large flight heritage across Airbus-built and third-party satellites, supporting mission lifetimes beyond 15 years with continuous operation.
