About
KMI’s End-of-Life Services enable satellite operators to fully utilize their space assets to maximize revenue without expending onboard fuel on self-deorbiting commands. Using the Laelaps spacecraft equipped with the proprietary REACCH end-effector, KMI captures non-functional satellites and safely removes them from orbit once their mission is complete.
The service is available for both planned missions and existing orbital assets, and requires no engineering modifications to the target satellite. Operators can list KMI on their regulatory permits, and a web-based pricing calculator provides estimates based on mission characteristics. The subscription-based monthly service fee begins after the satellite’s first operational month and terminates upon mission completion and removal. Adjusted rates apply for already-orbiting satellites, with additional retrieval fees for early malfunctions occurring within the first six months.
