About

Memetis’s custom SMA actuators are made from foil-based shape memory alloys that remember their original shape after deformation and restore it when heated, releasing large forces over significant travel distances. They can be designed in various shapes for in-plane displacement, plane lifting, or out-of-plane movement, with travel distance, force, and actuator dimensions all customizable. The company highlights use in in-space automation instruments, offering weight savings versus conventional actuators of similar force output. Four flat-form variants are available: Linear (in-plane displacement), Spiral (large forces for out-of-plane movement), Bending (plane lifting), and Antagonistic Linear (multiple switching positions).
