About

RocketStar’s Aerospike Engine is a patent-pending, 3D-printed reusable rocket engine designed as an alternative to the bell-cone engines the launch industry has used for roughly 70 years. Unlike bell-cone designs, the aerospike geometry automatically compensates for changing atmospheric pressure, delivering consistent performance from sea level to vacuum and providing 25-35% more thrust than conventional engines without additional propellant. Its multiple combustion chambers can be throttled individually, giving the engine built-in thrust vectoring and eliminating the need for heavy gimbals or actuators. RocketStar reports the design performs approximately 20% better than conventional rocket engines and is intended to support rapid reusability, with target turnaround of roughly two weeks between flights for RocketStar’s planned single-stage-to-orbit (SSTO) launch vehicles.
