Description
Cowbell is RocketStar's developmental single-stage-to-orbit (SSTO) test rocket used to demonstrate the company's reusable aerospike engine technology in flight. The 12-meter vehicle is designed to reach an altitude of roughly 21,000 meters on suborbital test flights, subject to final safety requirements, launching from Launch Complex 48 at Cape Canaveral, Florida — a multi-use pad supporting small launch vehicle developers. RocketStar has flown Cowbell carrying a prototype payload for resource-mapping startup Lunasonde, using the flight to validate the aerospike engine's thrust, reusability and altitude-compensation characteristics ahead of an eventual orbital launch vehicle program.
