The Modular Self-Stiffening Array (MOSSA) is Opterus’s deployable solar array platform, built using the company’s high-strain composite boom technology to self-stiffen into a rigid structure once deployed, without motors or latches at each joint. MOSSA is designed to be modular and scalable, supporting power requirements from small satellites through larger multi-kilowatt-class LEO missions, while reducing stowed volume, mass and deployment complexity compared to traditional rigid-panel solar arrays.
