About

The NanoCam C1U system is an off-the-shelf configuration consisting of a lens, lens table, image acquisition, processing board, and software. It has been designed to be implementable in a standard 1U CubeSat structure together with GomSpace’s on-board computers, attitude control system, radio transceiver and power products to allow low cost Earth observation using CubeSats. Key features include an industrial lens, a 3-megapixel color sensor, and advanced data processing and storage on-board. The image acquisition uses a 1/2″ (4:3) format color CMOS sensor with 2048 x 1536 pixels and a 10-bit RGB Bayer pattern. Lens options include 8 mm, 35 mm, and 70 mm, offering varying ground sampling distances from 650 km. Data processing is handled by a high-performance ARM processor with 512 MB DDR2 RAM and 2 GB solid-state image storage, supporting RAW, BMP, and JPEG output formats. It interfaces via CSP-enable CAN, I2C, and TTL level serial interfaces, and has a standard PC/104 size.
