About
SpaceTV-1 (STV-1) is Sen’s live video payload hosted on the Airbus Bartolomeo external platform attached to ESA’s Columbus module on the International Space Station. Installed via Canadarm-2 following launch on SpaceX CRS-30 on 21 March 2024, SpaceTV-1 streams three simultaneous 4K UHD camera views from the ISS at approximately 400 km altitude: a nadir camera pointed straight down at Earth (covering approximately 240 × 180 km per scene at ~60 m ground pixel size with real-time augmented reality mapping overlay), a horizon camera capturing Earth’s limb, atmospheric layers, and orbital sunrises/sunsets, and a docking port camera on the ISS Harmony module forward port that captures arriving and departing spacecraft. The payload streams live for more than 20 hours per day (with brief dropouts during ISS communication gaps) to audiences on sen.com, iOS, Android, YouTube, Samsung TV Plus, ITVX, and Spotify — free and ad-supported. A premium subscription removes ads and enables video downloads. Commercial and media licensing is available. Media clients using SpaceTV-1 footage include BBC, Getty Images, CBS, and Sky News. Sen’s own ETV-A1 16U CubeSat satellite, launched in January 2022, provides a complementary owned asset with up to 8K resolution at ~1.5 m GSD.
