ConnectedCosmos is Open Cosmos’s unified space-based connectivity and intelligence architecture, designed to deliver secure, resilient, and actionable data from space to users on Earth. The architecture centers on a gatewayless space mesh network that routes data between satellites using Optical Inter-Satellite Links (OISLs), removing the dependence on ground gateway infrastructure and enabling highly secure, low-latency data paths through space. This connectivity backbone integrates with the OpenConstellation for real-time Earth observation, DataCosmos for processing imagery into actionable intelligence, and the OpenOrbit mission management framework for mission operations. The resulting system enables active resilience: critical data is not only captured by EO satellites but also securely routed through the mesh and delivered to users in processed, usable form without single points of failure. ConnectedCosmos is targeted at government and defense users requiring high-assurance access to space-based intelligence, including ISR, maritime domain awareness, border monitoring, and strategic decision support applications.
