About
OpenConstellation is Open Cosmos’s shared satellite infrastructure model, enabling organizations to collectively benefit from a jointly operated multi-satellite fleet for Earth observation. By pooling satellites into a single managed constellation, partners dramatically reduce the per-mission cost of space-based data access while gaining access to a much larger observational capability than any single satellite program could provide. The constellation supports diverse sensor types, including multispectral, hyperspectral, infrared, and thermal imaging, at multiple spatial resolutions — from medium through high to very high resolution — across varying spectral bands. Partners enjoy three times the data volume over their region of interest compared to a standalone single-satellite mission, with shorter revisit times and expanded global coverage. Membership includes priority tasking rights for satellites over defined areas of interest, free data access, and full mission management by Open Cosmos from satellite manufacturing through launch, operations, and data processing. The constellation integrates with DataCosmos for analytics and the ConnectedCosmos backbone for secure data routing.
