About
OreSat0.5 is a 2U CubeSat built by the Portland State Aerospace Society as a technology demonstration platform for two systems: the attitude determination and control system (ADCS) of the modular, expandable, open-source OreSat bus, and the Cirrus Flux Camera (CFC), a short-wave infrared sensor for Earth observation. OreSat0.5 launched aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-11 rideshare mission on August 16, 2024, deploying at 12:52 PM PDT into a 510 km sun-synchronous low Earth orbit via ExoLaunch’s NOVA CubeSat Deployer (handed off to the launch provider on May 27, 2024, in Oxnard, California). The team received the satellite’s first data beacons via the SatNOGS ground station network within 16 minutes of deployment, and collected hundreds of beacons within 36 hours showing stable battery voltages and temperatures.
