Planet Mosaics

Planet Mosaics delivers comprehensive, high-frequency, and analysis-ready geospatial data. Unlike traditional mosaics, Planet allows you to use the most recent satellite imagery over your areas of interest, with updates at the frequency you need. These mosaics are built from PlanetScope® imagery and are designed to support both visual and automated analysis, providing consistent data critical for quantitative and machine learning workflows across broad areas. Delivered as frequently as weekly, Planet Mosaics support critical time-series analysis and operational intelligence by providing reliable, consistent information across broad regions.

Customers can choose from various mosaic types, including Visual Mosaics for human view and computer-vision analytics, and Normalized Surface Reflectance Mosaics for deeper spectral and quantitative analysis with minimized atmospheric effects and enhanced pixel accuracy. SuperRes Mosaics enhance PlanetScope imagery to a sharp 2m resolution using Planet’s proprietary generative AI model. For global context, Planet integrates over 1.5 million scenes to produce the most comprehensive annual Global Mosaic for the Earth’s entire landmass, ideal for mapping and visualization. Custom Mosaics allow users to define specific standards, including band combinations, image processing, and map projection.

Planet Mosaics are fully integrated into the Planet Insights Platform with seamless API and application access, and are ready to use with popular GIS applications like ArcGIS and QGIS. They can be accessed efficiently online via web streaming (XYZ and WMTS services) or downloaded as pre-processed gridded GeoTIFFs. This product helps users refresh outdated data, customize solutions, access comprehensive global coverage, and receive analysis-ready data with simple integration.
